Barton Seagrave, Kettering · Country house hotel

Barton Hall Hotel

Barton Hall Hotel is in Barton Seagrave on the edge of Kettering, a Grade II country house with views over its gardens. It's a hotel with bedrooms, a restaurant called Vines and an outdoor Garden Spa, so it's got plenty going on.

For weddings, the venue says it only holds one wedding reception per day.

The Orangery

The Orangery is the wedding space, set in the mature grounds. The venue's website calls it a bright ceremony location for up to 100 guests. There's also the Charles Suite, described as their large function room, so ask how the two work together if you're over that number.

One reception a day is a bit of reassurance, especially at a hotel where other guests will be around for the restaurant and spa. Ask where your drinks reception will be and how the Orangery is turned round between the ceremony and the meal. That turnaround is often when guests are left at a loose end for half an hour, so plan something for it.

Grounds and guests

The hall stands in nearly 10 acres, which gives you room for photos without anyone having to leave. Having bedrooms on site is a big plus for a Kettering wedding, and the new Garden Spa could be a nice way for the bridal party to wind down the next morning.

It's handy for local sights too, if guests are making a weekend of it. The venue mentions Rockingham Castle and other stately homes nearby. The venue offers a virtual tour on its website, which is a handy first look before you book a visit.

Entertainment ideas

An Orangery wedding has a lovely light, garden-party feel, and close-up magic during the drinks reception suits it. We're a Corby agency so Kettering is home turf for our wedding magicians. Jay & Joss also do a stage show that works well in a function room before the disco kicks in.
