For weddings, it's an exclusive-use country house venue. The whole place is yours for the day.
What Kelmarsh feels like
Elegant rooms, a relaxed garden with overflowing borders, an ornamental lake and big countryside views. It's less formal than some stately homes and has a bit of a lived-in charm to it. The kind of place where guests wander off with a drink and find a bench.
It's also a place with plenty going on through the year, from garden visits to outdoor events on the wider estate, so it's worth checking your date against their calendar when you first enquire. Visiting on an open day is a cheap way to get a feel for the rooms and gardens before you book a proper showround.
Spaces for the day
The Hall's rooms are used for the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the evening do. The venue's website says the Ballroom holds up to 100 guests, and the Saloon is where you'd welcome everyone in. For a small ceremony, the Orangery is the intimate option.
If your guest list is bigger than the house, Kelmarsh has a marquee site and a tipi site for larger weddings, with a 124-acre outdoor event site beyond that. Accommodation isn't covered on the weddings page, so ask the team about where guests stay. Our tip: if you're torn between the house and a marquee, count your evening guests first. That number usually decides it for you.
Entertainment that fits
Garden weddings with a long, lazy drinks reception are perfect for strolling magic. One of our wedding magicians can work small groups by the lake while you're off having photos. For a tipi or marquee evening, a fun casino goes down well with guests who aren't big dancers. Play money only, so nobody loses their shirt.
And if you've got lots of children coming, a children's entertainer in the tipi keeps parents sane.
